Oops, I forgot yesterday

Died on yesterday in 1587 aged 46 Grand Duke Francesco I de'Medici (my toy, wikipedia). Grandfather of Henrietta, who married Charles I. Like his father Cosimo Francesco was Grand Duke of Tuscany, ruling from Florence, unlike his father he acted more like a vassal of the Hapbsurgs and less like an independent monarch, but like his father he was a despotic rule. He was likely poisoned with arsenic.

Born yesterday in 1517 to John La Marck III, Duke of Cleves and Maria of Julich-Berg, Amalia of Cleves (my toy, wikipedia). Sister of Anne (wife of Henry VIII). Amalia and Anne were both given a very old-fashioned education (even for the sixteenth century) that emphasised the tasks necessary to run a household, and not things like "reading" or "theology" or even "music", which is kind of sad really. Amalia never married, and she did write a song book inspite of her dreadful education.

Died on this day in 1541 aged 51 Margaret Tudor (my toy, wikipedia). Daughter of Henry VII. Margaret married James IV of Scotland, in hopes of securing peace between England and Scotland but this didn't work. James IV died at Flodden and Margaret was made regent for their young son James V; this proved unpopular and there was a whole lot of confusing fighting over this, and for a time Margaret lived in London although she did return to Scotland eventually.

Born on this day in 1654 to Albert Hohenzollern II, Margrave of Ansbach and Sophie , John Hohenzollern , Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach (my toy, wikipedia). Father of Caroline who married George II; and otherwise seems to to have done much of interest.
