Died on this day in 1256 aged 80 Bernhard von Spanheim (my toy,wikipedia). Husband of Judith, who was the grand-daughter of Bela who married Margaret who had previously been married to Henry the Young King (England's only Junior King) . Bernhard was Duke of Carinthia which is in Austria and Slovenia and was previously part of the Duchy of Bavaria (which I guess was quite big at the time).
Born on this day in 1740 Ernestine of Saxe-Weimar (my toy,wikipedia). Mother of Sophie, who married Franz, who was the father of Victoria (by a different wife) who was the mother of Queen Victoria. Ernestine enjoyed music (and played several instruments) and hunting (on foot and on horse) and often wore trousers and rode astride.
