Died on this day in 1500 aged 28 William II, Landgrave of Hesse (my toy,wikipedia). Brother of Matilda, grandmother of Anne, wife of Henry VIII. William died after falling off his horse (ouch).

Born on this day in 1524 to Claude Lorraine , Duke of Guise and Antoinette de Bourbon, Charles de Lorraine (my toy,wikipedia). Brother of Mary of Guise, mother of Mary Queen of Scots, mother of James VI & I. Charles was a Cardinal, and he founder Reims University (which closed during the French Revolution).
