Died on this day in 1559 aged 77 King Christian II of Denmark (my toy,wikipedia). Husband of Isabella, grand-daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella, parents of Catherine, wife of Henry VIII. Christian was King of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden (which have been variously all-one-country and at-war-with-each-other over the years). He was deposed by his uncle and went into exile in the Netherlands, from whence he attempted to retake his throne, at which he failed, and ended up imprisoned.

Born on this day in 1860 to Frederick VIII, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein and Princess Adelheid of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, Karoline of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg (my toy,wikipedia). Great-grand-daughter of Victoria, mother of Queen Victoria.
