Apr. 11th, 2015 04:28 pmDied on this day in 1447 aged 70 Henry Beaufort (my toy,wikipedia). One of the children of John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford. Bishop of Winchester, and a Cardinal. Part of the regency council when Henry VI was a child. Presided over the trial of Joan of Arc.
Born on this day in 1374 to Edmund Mortimer and Philippa, Roger Mortimer (my toy,wikipedia). Father of Anne who married a grandson of Edward III. Also the son of Philippa, daughter of Lionel of Antwerp, son of Edward III; so possibly he ought have been king rather than Henry IV, son of John of Gaunt who was a younger son of Edward III. But the Mortimer claim is via a woman! which is clearly bad! Or maybe Henry *had a bigger army*. Anyway, he didn't get to Be King.
