Died on this day in 1471 aged 42 Richard Neville (my toy,wikipedia). Father of Anne, who married Richard III; and a descendent of John of Gaunt. Earl of Warwick. Known as "Kingmaker" for his part in the Wars of the Roses; most of that story is pretty well known.

Born on this day in 1857 to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Queen Victoria of UK, Princess Beatrice (my toy,wikipedia). Beatrice was a close confidante of her mother, and stayed close to her even after she married.
