Born on this day in 1630 to King Charles I of England and Henrietta of France, King Charles II of England (my toy,wikipedia). Charles fled to France after his father was executed, and took the throne back after Cromwell Senior died and Cromwell Junior turned out to be rubbish at being in charge. He proved an unpopular king, getting into lots of wars and being too sympathetic to Catholics. He had no legitimate children, and was succeeded by his brother James.
