Jul. 6th, 2015 05:08 pmDied on this day in 1189 aged 56 King Henry II of England (my toy,wikipedia). Henry got English Common Law on a firm footing, and ruled most of France.
Born on this day in 1332 to William de Burgh and Maud of Lancaster, Elizabeth de Burgh (my toy,wikipedia). Married Lionel, second son of Edward III. They had a daughter, who married a Mortimer, and it is through this connection that the House of York claimed the throne, being that Lionel was an older son than John of Gaunt, but having the line pass through a woman was not clearly allowed at the time (you could argue forever about this sort of thing, or you could resolve it with a BIG ARMY, which alas, they did)
