Sep. 8th, 2015 04:30 pmDied on this day in 1397 aged 42 Thomas of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester (my toy, wikipedia). Youngest son of Edward III. He campaigned in France a bit, and was leader of the Lords Apellant who were pissed off about Richard II, unfortunately they lost, and Thomas was arrested for Treason. He was murdered before the trial, presumably on the Kings' instructions. Because killing your uncles is a super-fun hobby when you are part of the nobility of England.
Born on this day in 1157 to King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine, King Richard Lionheart (my toy, wikipedia). For some reason history loves Richard even though he was never *in* England and spent heaps of (tax) money crusading and having to be ransomed and so on.
