Oct. 1st, 2015 04:07 pmDied on this day in 959 aged 18 King Eadwig (my toy, wikipedia). Eadwig was king for only four years, and seems mostly to have spent that time feuding with various people and giving away land. Notably his marriage was annulled for consanguinity (they were 2nd cousins) although neither of them wanted an annulment.
Born on this day in 1207 to King John of England and Isabella of Angouleme, King Henry III of England (my toy, wikipedia). Henry made much of the *forms* of being King (ceremonies are important!) but wasn't actually very much in *charge* (the Barons mostly were). He was also really vile to the Jewish population of England, although alas not uniquely so, stealing vast amounts of their money.
