Died on this day in 1851 aged 80 King Ernest of Hanover (my toy,wikipedia). Son of George III. When Victoria became Queen of England she did not become Queen of Hanover because her Uncle Ernest (her deceased father's younger brother) had precedence in the semi-Salic law in Hanover), thus Hanover ceased to be in "personal union" with the UK. Unlike Georges II-IV Ernest actually moved to Hanover. He was Conservative and not very popular, and also apparently not very nice.

Born on this day in 1771 to Prince Augustus of Prussia and Elisabeth , Margravine of Brandenburg-Schwedt, Friedrich of Prussia (my toy,wikipedia). Great-grand-son of George I. Fought against Napoleon. He was also a composer and wrote several works for piano.
