Oops, forgot to do yesterday. Or rather "was so hungover from drinking extremely dubious wine that I couldn't do much other than lie on my bed feeling sorry for myself" ahem.

Died yesterday in 1124 aged 59 Callixtus II, Pope (my toy, wikipedia). Half brother of Clementia who married Godfrey whose daughter Ida (by a different wife) married Henry I. Also 1st cousin once removed of William I. I don't have many popes, which is why I picked him. He issued a papal bull "Sicut Judaeis" which basically said "stop being mean to Jews", which is nice, but it didn't really *work*.

Born yesterday in 1553 to King Antoine of Navarre and Queen Jeanne of Navarre, King Henry IV of France (my toy, wikipedia). Father of Henriette who married Charles I. First Bourbon King of France, he inherited from a distant cousin because of Salic law. Although he had been baptised as a Catholic he was raised Protestant, this caused quite a lot of problems with him being King of France and he eventually converted back to Catholicism famously saying "Paris is well worth a mass". He did grant some limited freedoms to Protestants in France.

Died on this day in 1861 aged 42 Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (my toy, wikipedia). Husband (and first cousin) of Queen Victoria. He was not made King, being instead "Prince Consort", he initially found it hard to have such an ill-defined position and powerful wife, but eventually got over it.

Born on this day in 1716 to Anton Saxe-Meiningen , Duke of Saxe-Meiningen and Philippine , Princess Philippine of Saxe-Meiningen (my toy). Half-sister of George, father of Adelaide who married William IV. Not interesting enough to have her own wiki page.
