Died on this day in 1705 aged 67 Catherine of Braganza (my toy,wikipedia). Wife of Charles II. Catherine was the daughter of the King of Portugal, allegedly she introduced tea drinking to the English court, a habit which was common in Portugal. She was also Catholic, which made her unpopular in Protestant England.

Born on this day in 1504 to King Manuel I of Portugal and Maria of Aragon, Beatrice of Portugal (my toy,wikipedia). Niece of Catherine of Aragon (wife of Henry VIII). Beatrice was the daughter of the King of Portugal, and married the Duke of Savoy.
