I propose to visit:
http://www.britishmuseum.org/whats_on/exhibitions/hajj/introduction.aspx
Some weekend day in the not-to-distant future.

I also propose to pick somewhere from this list:
http://www.afternoontea.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=135&Itemid=16
to go for horrifically expensive afternoon tea; because I *like* silly fiddly sammiches and cake

Does anyone else wish to join this proposal if so when would be a good time etc.

I'm interested in the British Museum as a general matter of principle, though only modestly interested in that particular exhibition.

I'm not sure with my diet that I'd get good value ouit of afternoon tea, though, especially once I'd ruined my day trying to fathom out the rules for "smart casual". :-p

Yes, afternoon tea is perhaps not the best choice for someone who lives off cheese...

"smart casual" for men is I think quite easy - non-jean trousers and a button shirt.

I'm always interested in afternoon tea and wouldn't mind taking a look around the exhibition, but I'm not so good at picking dates - let me know when works for others and I'll try to plan around that.
