Died on this day in 1724 aged 42 Duke Ernest I of Saxe-Hildhurghausen(my toy,wikipedia). Grandfather of the wife of George III. As a young man he fought in the army, but as Duke of Saxe-Hildurghausen he seems mostly to have spent more money than the Duchy had on building stupid palaces, which was a bad plan and got him into a war.


Born on this day in 1213 Duke Hugh IV of Burgundy(my toy,wikipedia). Great grand father of the 2nd wife of King Edward I. Wikipedia thinks the most interesting thing about Hugh is that he wrote some music.
