Mar. 10th, 2015 04:02 pmDied on this day in 1663 aged 37 Edward Count Palatine(my toy, wikipedia). Uncle of George I, his children would have been ahead of George in the British succession but he was disqualified on account of having converted to Catholicism (having married a French princess). He didn't inherit Bohemia or the Palatinate from his parents, who had been Thrown Out, and lived in exile in Paris off his wife's inheritance and the French King's generosity.
Born on this day in 1452 to King John II of Aragon and Juana Enriquez, King Ferdinand II of Aragon (my toy, wikipedia). Father of Catherine of Aragon. Famously sponsored (with his wife Isabella) the voyage of Columbus to the New World, he also finished the Reconquista eliminating Muslim rule in Spain. And then he forcefully converted all the Muslims in his territory to Catholicism. So all in all I can't say much for Ferdinand's handling of relations with people-unlike-him. On the up side Ferdinand and Isabella were effective co-rulers, so strike one for gender equality maybe?
