Apr. 1st, 2015 03:23 pmDied on this day in 1204 aged 82 Eleanor of Aquitaine (my toy, wikipedia). Eleanor was first married to Louis VII, this marriage was annulled on account of them being 3rd cousins once removed (well, really because they had fallen out, but this was the reason for the annulment). She then married her 3rd cousin Henry II... these rules about not marrying one's 3rd cousin were, um, not always obeyed? Henry an Eleanor fell out too, but did not seek a divorce and she continued to be his wife but lived in Poitiers; she later supported her son Henry in revolt against his father. After this Eleanor was imprisoned in England. She was released after Henry II died, he was succeeded by their son Richard - when he went off crusading she ruled as his regent.
Born on this day in 1886 to Claude Bowes-Lyon and Cecilia Cavendish-Bentinck, John Bowes-Lyon (my toy, wikipedia). Brother of the Queen Mother. His wife was Fenella Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis which is a lot of name!
