Born on this day in 1588 to Duke Charles I of Savoy and Infanta Catherine of Spain, Emanuel of Savoy (my toy,wikipedia). Grandchild of Philip II of Spain who had married Mary I (through another wife). Emanuel was going to be a priest but instead he joined the military, later becoming Grand Admiral of Spain. He died of plague, without every marrying.
