Died on this day in 1572 aged 44 Queen Jeanne of Navarre (my toy, wikipedia)
Grandmother of Henrietta who married Charles I. She was forced to marry the brother of Anne of Cleves, which she was not at all happy about, and the marriage was annulled on the grounds on non-consumation 4 years later. She later married Antoine de Bourbon and was the mother of the first Bourbon King of France, Antoine was a philanderer but she seems to have been less unhappy in this marriage. She was by inclination a religious reformer, and had the New Testament translated into Basque. She was forced to be Catholic when the Wars of Religion broke out, but later backed the Protestant side, and was a key figure in peace discussions.

Born on this day in 1804 to Friedrich von Hanstein and Anna von Hanstein, Alexander Hanstein , Count of Polzig and Beiresdorf (my toy, wikipedia). Step-father of Prince Albert; Albert's mother had left his father and married Alexander in secret, but this lead to her being denied contact with her children. Prince Albert was later persuaded to give his step-father a pension.
