Born on this day in 1674 to Ernest Hanover , Elector of Brunswick-Luneburg and Sophia of Hanover, Ernest Hanover , Duke of York and Albany (my toy,wikipedia). Great grand son of James VI & I, also brother of George I. Ernest served in the army, but when his brother became King of England became his regent in his German lands.
