Oct. 18th, 2015 05:49 pmOops, I forgot yesterday
Died on yesterday in 1587 aged 46 Grand Duke Francesco I de'Medici (my toy, wikipedia). Grandfather of Henrietta, who married Charles I. Like his father Cosimo Francesco was Grand Duke of Tuscany, ruling from Florence, unlike his father he acted more like a vassal of the Hapbsurgs and less like an independent monarch, but like his father he was a despotic rule. He was likely poisoned with arsenic.
Born yesterday in 1517 to John La Marck III, Duke of Cleves and Maria of Julich-Berg, Amalia of Cleves (my toy, wikipedia). Sister of Anne (wife of Henry VIII). Amalia and Anne were both given a very old-fashioned education (even for the sixteenth century) that emphasised the tasks necessary to run a household, and not things like "reading" or "theology" or even "music", which is kind of sad really. Amalia never married, and she did write a song book inspite of her dreadful education.
