Nov. 16th, 2015 01:44 pmDied on this day in 1272 aged 65 King Henry III of England (my toy, wikipedia). Henry became King aged only 9 in the middle of the first Barons' War (which he, or rather his generals, won). Then he invaded France, which went very badly. He was known as a pious man, which didn't prevent him from being very nasty to the Jews in England. He tried invading France again (bad plan) and eventually basically everyone hated him which lead to the second Barons' War. All this Baronial Waring gradually eroded royal power.
Born on this day in 1617 Frederick VI, Margrave of Baden-Burlach (my toy, wikipedia). Father of Joanna, who married John, who was the father (different wife) of Caroline who married George II (so, Caroline's step-father-in-law?). Frederick was one of the leaders of the Imperial Army in the War of Spanish Succession.
