Dec. 11th, 2015 03:59 pmDied on this day in 1443 aged 79 Sir John Cornwall (my toy,wikipedia). Married Elizabeth, daughter of John of Gaunt (son of Edward III). This marriage was somewhat a scandal as although she was a widow with 6 children he was expected to ask her brother (the King) for permission to marry her, and didn't (presumably this permission is mostly to do with him being *king* rather than her brother, but still!). John was a military man, and made quite a fortune out of it.
Born on this day in 1833 to Prince Ernst I of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Princess Feodora of Leiningen, Victor Hohenlohe-Langenburg , of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (my toy,wikipedia). Son of Feodora, half sister of Queen Victoria (they share a mother) he served in the Royal Navy and was promoted to Admiral after he retired. He later became a sculptor, examples of his work on wikipedia look pretty good. He married the daughter of a fellow officer, and his son went on to serve in the British army during WWI.
