Died on this day in 1458 aged 65 Arthur Montfort III, Duke of Brittany (my toy,wikipedia). Son of Joan who had been married to Henry IV (by her second husband). Arthur fought on the French side during the 100 years war, and was an important figure in the French leadership. He fought beside Joan of Arc at Patay, and helped arrange the treaty with Burgundy that eventually lead to the defeat of the English.

Born on this day in 1618 to Frederick V Elector Palatine and Elizabeth Stuart, the Winter Queen, Princess Elizabeth of the Palatinate (my toy,wikipedia). Grand-daughter of James VI & I. An educated woman always in search of more knowledge Elizabeth corresponded with many of Europe's leading intellectuals. She became Princess-Abbess of Herford Convent in Saxony (a Protestant convent)
