naathDied on this day in 975 aged 32 King Edgar the Peaceful (my toy,wikipedia). It was during Edgar's rule that the Benedictine Rule was introduced to English monasteries.
Born on this day in 1640 to King Charles I of England and Henrietta of France, Henry Stuart , Duke of Gloucester (my toy,wikipedia). Henry was captured at the end of the civil war, and held in the tower whilst his brother Charles escaped to France. He was later released, but when his mother basically chucked him out of Paris on account of how during his time in captivity he had become a staunch Protestant, he then went to fight with the Spanish, where he met the Prince of Conde who shared his dislike of the Catholic church. After the restoration of the monarchy Henry went back to London (I guess he got on better with his brother than his mother?) but died of smallpox the same year.
