Died on this day in 1524 aged 57 Sibylle of Brandenburg (my toy, wikipedia). Grandmother of Anne of Cleves (briefly) wife of Henry VIII. Sibylle had only one child, a girl, who married the Duke of Cleves; through this marriage the duchies of Cleves and Julich-Berg were united.
Born on this day in 1511 to Magnus I, Duke of Saxe-Lauenburg and Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Dorothea of Saxe-Lauenburg (my toy, wikipedia). Grandmother of Anne of Denmark, who married James VI and I. Dorothea married the King of Denmark, and never learned Danish (I guess it is hard?). Whilst Queen she was partly responsible for a law banning the arranged engagements of children. After the death of her husband she wanted to marry his brother, this was Not Allowed, and caused great tension with her children; after she attempted to arrange a marriage for one of her other sons that her son the King disagreed with she was exiled from the court.
