Sep. 5th, 2015 07:25 pmDied on this day in 1548 aged 36 Catherine Parr (my toy, wikipedia). Wife (and third cousin once removed) of Henry VIII. Also God-daughter of Catherine of Aragon, Henry's first wife, and likely named for her. After Henry's death Catherine married Thomas Seymour, who she had wanted to marry before the King asked her and made that impossible. He was a Terrible Husband, and chased the young Lady (later Queen) Elizabeth something terrible. She died after having their only child. As well as being multiply-unluckily-married she was an ardent protestant and something of a scholar, publishing books on religion. She had some hand in the upbringing of Jane Grey, and was close to all three of Henry's children.
Born on this day in 1451 to Richard Neville , 16th Earl of Warwick and Anne Beauchamp , 16th Countess of Warwick, Isabel Neville (my toy, wikipedia). Sister of Anne, who married Richard III. Isabel married George (brother of Richard) (I thought relationship-by-afinity oughta make that legally incest, but they did it anyway). Isabel died after the birth of their 4th child, probably of "having a baby" which was distressingly very common, but one of her ladies was executed for allegedly murdering her (later pardoned by Edward IV). One of her daughters was later Lady Pole, mother of Reginald Pole.
