Died on this day in 1161 aged 56 Queen Melisende of Jerusalem (my toy,wikipedia). Step-mother of Geoffrey of Anjou, father of Henry II. Melisende was the daughter of the King, but when she married her husband became de-facto ruler of Jerusalem; this caused friction at court, and eventually she managed to re-assert her right to rule. After his death she ruled alone, her son-and-heir decided that this wasn't great and he wanted to rule, the country was partitioned and she had the Southern half and he the Northern, then they had a civil war and she lost.
