Died on this day in 1422 aged 53 King Charles VI of France (my toy,wikipedia). Father of Catherine who married first Henry IV and then Owen Tudor. Charles became King at the age of only 11, and France was ruled by regents until he was 21. In his early thirties Charles became mentally ill, initially quite suddenly, and for long stretches the country was ruled by his wife and a regency council. In 1394 he was apparently considered sufficiently sane that his edict throwing all the Jews out of France was enforced; not the first time the Jews had been thrown out of France, they began to return in the 17th century.

Born on this day in 1449 to Richard York , 3rd Duke of York and Cecily Neville, George York , 1st Duke of Clarence (my toy,wikipedia). Brother of Edward IV and Richard III. George married his Isabella, his first-cousin once-removed and sister-in-law. George was found guilty of treason against his brother (not quite clear to me what he was meant to have done) and allegedly was drowned in a vat of Malmsey wine.
