Sophia married the Elector (later King) of Prussia, he was so in love with her that although he kept an "official mistress" (in imitation of the French King because French thins were fashionable) she wasn't actually his mistress.
Born on this day in 1800 to August Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg , Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and Louise Mecklenburg-Schwerin , Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Princess Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (my toy,wikipedia). Mother of Albert husband of Queen Victoria. Louise and her husband divorced, because he was constantly cheating on her. After she secretly re-married she lost all contact with her children (that's not fair! the divorce was *his fault* blood patriarchy)
