Dec. 20th, 2015 05:59 pmDied on this day in 1295 aged 74 Margaret of Provence (my toy,wikipedia). Sister of Eleanor who married Henry III, also a descendant of Alfred the Great. Margaret married the King of France, aged only 13, she shared the King's piety and accompanied him on the 7th crusade, which did not go well and he was captured leaving Eleanor responsible for arranging a ransom.
Born on this day in 1902 to King George V of the the United Kingdom and Mary of Teck, George Saxe-Coburg and Gotha , Duke of Kent (my toy,wikipedia). George served in the Navy and then worked for the foreign office, becoming the first member of the royal family to be a civil servant. He married Princess Mariana of Greece and Denmark but was renowned for his many affairs with both men and women, he was also rumoured to have been addicted to cocaine.
